BIOMARA is a Europe-wide scientific project investigating the possible future roles of seaweeds (algae) as energy sources. The main avenues of investigation are into oil production from microscopic algae, and alcohol (from fermentation) or methane production (from anaerobic digestion) of macro algae.

I am working as artist with the group that are based at the Scottish Association of Marine Sciences (SAMS), in Dunstaffnage on the west coast of Scotland, which is led by Dr Michele Stanley.
